We restore outdoor spaces, one suburban garden at a time, by taking a simple, regenerative approach.

About us

Urban Rewilding specialises in creating small-to-medium-sized indigenous habitats in collaboration with people and businesses keen to nurture the land that they live and operate on.

By recognising your garden’s many uses and strengths, we carefully select indigenous plants to create landscapes that provide a haven for you, as well as bugs, birds and reptiles.

In a short period of time these spaces will start to manage themselves in the same way that nature manages herself. Once established, indigenous plants will thrive with minimal intervention and management.

By choosing to grow indigenous plants in your garden, you are helping to push back the extinction crisis.

With our changing climate and biodiversity loss, more people are wanting to create resilient gardens and habitat in their outdoor spaces, and with the help of Urban Rewilding - you can too.

First Nation’s People tended to this area now known as Naarm for millennia with profound understanding of land, waters and climate.  Urban Rewilding is deeply grateful for this.  Since colonisation, our urban landscape has been badly damaged; many of our precious ecosystems have been destroyed.  By planting indigenous species in your space, you can provide a value haven for wildlife, and play a crucial role in reversing extinction.

While often very understated, indigenous plants are often breathtakingly beautiful. They have evolved with local soils and climate. Their roots go deeper, are often more resilient and can survive on rainfall alone compared to introduced species, that require frequent watering in the heat. Because they are part of an existing ecosystem, indigenous plants are less likely to become weedy, and take over an area.
